Mối quan tâm về môi trường đang ngày càng ảnh hưởng đến quyết định mua sắm của người tiêu dùng, buộc các nhà sản xuất và đóng gói hàng hóa phải suy nghĩ lại về cách họ đóng gói sản phẩm của mình.
Nestle từng bị nhóm môi trường Greenpeace chỉ trích vì không nhanh chóng loại bỏ loại nhựa sử dụng một lần. Tuy nhiên, công ty này cho đến nay đã tập trung vào việc phát triển các loại bao bì có thể tái chế hoặc tái sử dụng và đã thành lập hẳn một viện nghiên cứu để phát triển các giải pháp mới trong lĩnh vực này.
“Người tiêu dùng muốn tạo ra thay đổi qua việc đưa ra quyết định mua hàng của mình”, ông Alexander Alexander von Maillot, người đứng đầu bộ phận sản xuất bánh kẹo của Nestle cho biết.
Công ty đã tung ra bao bì giấy cho sản phẩm bột sữa Nesquik trong quý đầu tiên của năm 2019 và sẽ giới thiệu các túi làm bằng giấy cho thức uống Milo vào năm 2020.
